OCTOBER 2013

TRIP NOTES 
Two planes went to Mulege on Friday and two went to Cadeje. The weather was generally good, with a mix of headwinds and tailwinds, that seemed to average out as no wind.

MEDICAL CLINIC       
Our first medical clinic of the season saw a steady flow of patients. The patients were welcomed by Marilyn Zellet, doing triage, and then on to the vital sign station where Margo Kenny, CJ Boyer, EMT, and Kylie Knoles-Barnett took blood pressures and weights and other needed labs. The patients were then seen by Dr. David Dodson and Myra Howard-Cochran, NP, with the assistance of translators Cheri King and Teresita Aguilar-Carmello.  The final patient had a large cyst removed from his back, which was greatly appreciated by the patient and his family.  The final stop for most of the patients was at the pharmacy. Patsi Hodges got the pharmacy up to speed after the summer break and Laura Scherzmann assisted with counting and dispensing medication. We saw 30 patients, both new and returning, and asked many to come back next month for follow up.

DENTAL CLINIC
This month the dental clinic, with two dentists and an able staff, served 20+ patients, many for multiple procedures.  Dr. John Grube, assisted by Larry Cochran, kept busy with consults, fillings, and extractions, while Dr. Stu MacPherson and Roni performed root canals for needy patients. Instruments were sterilized by Karyn Yule. Marilyn Zellet did triage and translations with Angela Vanden Brulle, who also cleaned teeth.

NOTEWORTHY    
Our Channel Cat Fundraiser was a big success. Angeli Mancuso, Karyn Yule and Marilyn Zellet were the primary organizers and did a great job. The regular members of Aeromédicos were fantastic in their support, attendance, and contributions. Thanks to all for a fun time and a successful evening.
