TRIP NOTES

Friday’s departure saw clear skies and favorable winds for the most part. However, Craig’s airplane had a fuel pump problem that could not be fixed in Santa Barbara. Two planes stayed on the Cadeje side and were able to report dense fog on the morning of the clinic. The Mulege contingent was able to land in Cadeje by 9:45. The trip home on Sunday was a mixed bag of cross winds, but generally smooth.

MEDICAL CLINIC

Dr. Lisa Babashoff, with Laura translating, and Myra Howard-Cochran FNP, with Erin Sparks RN translating, saw over 30 patients on the medical side. Things continue to run smoothly with the new protocols in place. Dr. Gayou (sp) has put together new charting forms which will make further visits more efficient. Erin Sparks did triage and kept a nice even flow of patients coming while Chris Huntsman did vital signs and lab duties. We saw many new patients at our clinic this month, along with some of our regulars. Erin also provided the clinic with posters for the patients to read while waiting to be seen. Marilynn Enns and Bobbi Bliss had the pharmacy running smoothly.

DENTAL CLINIC

The dental clinic was staffed with only two dentist this trip, Dr. Stu Macpherson and Roni did all the fillings and one cleaning for the military comandante, while Dr. Grube and Larry Cochran did all the extractions. The dental clinic, due to the fog, had been working for about an hour before the Mulege contingent arrived and was able to finish ahead of the medical side for the first time this year. Doug Kramer quickly learned sterilization and Don did his usual great job with triage.

LINE CREW

A special thanks to the pilots that transfer fuel to other planes while the clinics is in progress. Just another example of great team work and is greatly appreciated.
