Marisol
Higuera
The
following narrative you are about to read is from a journal
written at the turn of the year 2001-2002. The story begins
in a remote fish camp in Baja California Sur on the Pacific Ocean
at the mouth of La Purisima River. It is the remarkable story
of
a young girl, about to turn eleven, who was born deaf.
She remained isolated and untrained for more than a
decade, a beach child as her name implies -- Marisol -- sea and sun. Ultimately
only time will tell if our intervention was cruel or kind. This
is her story.
